Toyota Australia Recalls Various Toyota Vehicles Due To Combination Meter Software

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving certain Toyota vehicles produced between July 2022 – April 2025. There are approximately 69,586 vehicles involved in the Australian market (noting not all vehicles produced within the above time range are affected – see VIN list below).

The subject vehicles have a 12.3-inch display on the instrument panel that shows various information (warning and indicator lights, vehicle gauges, messages, etc.). There is a possibility that the display can be blank when the vehicle starts and will remain in this state.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will update the programming of the combination meter software free of charge to owners.

Repair of involved vehicles will take approximately 1 to 2.5 hours (based on vehicle model). Depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Toyota Australia will contact all owners of involved vehicles to provide details of this safety recall campaign. Owners are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.

Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local/preferred Toyota Dealer in the first instance or the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-6.00pm AEST). Please quote your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Q&A

Q1. What models are involved in Australia?
A1. There are approximately 69,586 various Toyota vehicles involved in the Australian market within the following VIN range.

Note: Although the involved vehicles are within the above VIN ranges, not all vehicles in these VIN ranges were sold in the Australian market.
(#) indicates additional check digit (alpha or numeric).

Q2. What is the condition? (Description)
A2: The subject vehicles are equipped with a combination meter system where various information is displayed (warning and indicator lights, vehicle gauges, messages etc.) in a 12.3-inch display monitor in the instrument panel.  Due to improper programming of the combination meter, unnecessary data is repeatedly written to a memory device in the combination meter when the combination meter operates, causing the memory device to deteriorate earlier than intended. If this occurs, the monitor will not be displayed at ignition on and will remain in this state. Driving without speedometer and any warning may result in an increased risk of an accident in certain driving conditions.
